Oh no dude it's because I am not ready for full boost. I had to get out of the gas!! LOL It would have easily kept going. It shot to 10PSI in first gear almost instantly. LOL

NO not quite that high. LOL I am at 13 PSI right now. Pretty high for a stock bottom end.

Throw up a pic of your jeep on this link, just for fun. I want some eye candy of a WJ with 275s on stockers.

But back ot 13 lbs is good I talk to some people at the track with their two doors and they have a hard time admitting 8-10lbs of boost...

It is in petty good shape right now. We have to change everything above 10 PSI but not much. Then comes the scary part of trying to get the most timing without having something go BANG

Good thing is that once the fuel is right I can hook my meth back up and that will help with tuning for additional timing

Then stick with lucky number 13... a Jeep (non srt these days) in the 13 second range is already impressive.

I run 13 with full weight too. I can really get into the 13's now and if I lost some of this heft I may be able to hit a high 12.

Yea.. Timing is when the ignition goes through it's firing sequence making the explosion that creates the downward force on the crank that is the power/torque. I'm sure you knew that but to just throw it out there. We pulled the timing back to 18* before top dead center so that when the spark is generated and it actually makes the explosion after the piston has gone past top dead center and is already on it's way downward stroke. Before I had 26* of timing with 8 PSI of boost so it was actually creating the explosion while the piston was closer to top dead center. You want to be as close to catching the piston at the top as you can without any pending pre detonation but never before top dead center. You can start the spark before top dead center because it takes a milisecond to actually become the explosion and in that timeframe the crank is rotating the piston from before top dead center to after top dead center. I hope that wasn't too confusing. LOL Main thing is with more boost you are really incresing your compression ratio and when it gets high enough it will create it's own pre ignition without the spark plug firing. So you reduce the amount of timing you have and run higher octane fuel to fight off pre ignition. Instead of race fuel I use methanol injection, which adds higher octane of methanol and the cooling effect of water to help remove heat like a intercooler.

so TDC would be 0* of timing? yeah it makes sence so 18 degrees is the point after TDC it sparks.

I dont know. I know i am jumping in late but my DD is just that DD.

I think you would be better off having a stock/slight modded DD and then have a track car or Jeep.

At some point the thing becomes too unruly to drive on the street. Police/Emmisions/Tickets/ all are good reasons to do all your racing on the track.

All just my 2 cents.

I went thru this with harleys. highest lft cam, best drag carb, biggest strokea and bore. Got it to the point where at the time I couldnt buy a starter strong enough to start it. So we went kicker only. It barely idled between the carb and the cam. The thing ate light bulbs from the vibration.

Finally got tired of it and set sights on making much more streetable. Milder cam. Little less compression. Carb with accelerator pump. Electronic ignition insteead of points. I then really enjoyed that bike and rode the crap out iof it.

In the end,I would have been better off with 2 rides. And enjoyed it more.

All just my opinion.

Enjoy whatever path you choose.

I understand exactly were your coming from. I have a 67 chevy that was pretty bad. if it rained oh hell hold on tight and don't even think about snow or ice. It's funny though my jeeps seems pretty aggressive but it is really surprisingly smooth. You only know if you really get on it. Other than the crappy gas mileage it's seems almost like a stocker.

I will add that it did take awhile to get to this point though.
