Does anyone know anything about the Mopar Cold Air Intake system for the 5.7 Hemi Jeeps? Prices, part numbers, detailed pictures, parts included, HP gains, easy of install, TQ gains, better or worse than K&N or AIRAID or GS Motorsports, or Home made?

Somebody had a Mopar CAI, but im not sure if it was the hemi or not.... I'd say something like K&N would be better, but im no expert.

I would definatly go with the mopar. The K&N has a plastic pipe from the throttle body to the filter which take longer to cool off unlike the mopar which has an aluminum powder coated pipe plus looks nice and looks factory

here is what mine looks like

Hastok, you're 100% wrong. Metal conducts so much more heat than plastic, therefore heat up quickly and hold their heat for a long time. Plastic, on the other hand, is molded and hardly conducts any heat, so they are better for a cold air intake. You can't have a cold air pull through a hot tube. That negates the purpose.

well my buddy who is a mechanic for jeep told me that the mopar pipe will not conduct or hold the heat because it is aluminum powder coated so one the air comes in it dissipate's the heat. he also told me that the K&N pipe he got on his 03 jeep holds alot more heat and take londer to cool down than the mopar intake he has on his 05. so you can sit there and tell me whatever you want till you blue in the face. i'm gonna take his word on it. and you are absolutly right metal is a conductor of heat but not when it is thin and light like aluminum and powder coated

Well I will take K&N's word over his, since that's their business. Unless he's a chemist and/or a engineer, he's incorrect.

Read this paragraph, numb nuts.

Our 63 Series Air Intake Kits (AirCharger's) are a sister product to our 57 Series FIPK's. They enjoy a faster speed to market than our 57 Series kits due to their pending CARB status. These intakes are built for many different vehicles and represent a dramatic improvement over a K&N O/E replacement filter alone; they use only non-metallic rotationally molded tubes that can reduce intake air temperature and decrease intake sound over a metal tube. Restriction can exist BETWEEN an air filter and the engine reducing the benefit of a K&N Air Filter. The weakest link in the airflow “chain” robs a vehicle of its natural horsepower. Often that weak point is the factory air path leading to the Engine. K&N Air Intake Kits virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the air filter and the entire air path to the engine. The aerodynamically engineered tube drives a massive amount of air into an engine, which translates into POWER.

The Mopar FIPK is made bt K&N for Mopar.

Plastic is better as it is cooler per the spec.'s

only the filter is made by K&N

and blackattack your thick headed of course K&N is going to write a whole novel about how there product is this and that
frankly you can take that paragraph and wipe your ass with

it's common sense why would mopar put out a product that would not be feesable, they are going to make a CAI that doesnt let cold air in. your talking stupid!!!!!!!!

They build it because people like the metal instead of plastic. Also, if you think for one second that every Mopar accessory is 100% warranted, you are dumber than your grammar suggests.

K&N Aircharger (Plastic tube)
9.47 HP @ 4397 RPM

http://kandn.com/images/s/77-1548KP.jpg
K&N 77 Kit (Metal tube)
7.96 HP @ 4397 RPM

Plastic gives slightly better performance (in this case 1.5HP or 19% gain) but you sacrifice the good looks of the metal tube.

none of those gains in a jeep will mean crap at the end of the day

so choice in what you like beter will matter more

I chose the metal tube K&N over the plastic. Really more for aesthetic reasons...

The plastic tube has the K&N logo molded into the tube, and the K&N logo on the metal one is a heat resistant sticker which I peeled off.

I would like to find a heat resistant Mopar decal and put on mine like the Mopar CAI for the 5.7L.
