So I got my intake and muffler and tip installed. It's still no SRT8, but it's decent. I figure at 5132 RPM, where the K&N maxes out, I have 230 HP. That would be just under 8 HP from the intake, 12 from the muffler, and the stock 210. Doesn't sound too outlandish, I don't think. Anyway, here's some stuff for you to enjoy.

The setup sounds good. I'm considering Jet chip now since I have it flowing nice.
Comments, thoughts, suggestions?

Just the muffler. They pulled the tip from somewhere, I don't know, it's just a generic one. They had to cut it back a lot so it fit the way I liked it. I didn't want it sticking out at all.
For the FTP site, I owe Street WK my first born and a pint of blood. Thank you so very very much.

Arm wrenching? Ok.
Did you install the cold air intake, or you had someone else do it?
Looks neat-o!thumbup

JJ, I was obviously joking about the arm wrenching. It sounds cool though, and has opened up a little bit in the lower end of the power curve. Neat-o, haha, good word. Also, I did the intake. I did the stickers too.
JJ is right (where have I read that before?), it certainly is a Jeep.
I don't want the Eibach kit because I need to keep ground clearance for the winter. I don't want to be plowing the streets if we get a decent snow storm here. I plan on swapping the rims for the stockers, but I'm not going to switch out the springs each fall and spring too. Also, the tires are less than a 1/4" larger than the stock ones, so it is just you.

Just as a side note, the stock muffler is as heavy as a fat girl in a candy store... Jeez!!!! It's no wonder these Jeeps are porkers, they've got forty pound mufflers in there, weighing us down, slowing us down, and just passing emissions. Anyone looking for weight reduction can start there.

ahhhhh...... that sux that u have to worry about the danmm snow. ohh well, never mind, i just thought ur jeep would look better than it already is.

Good, glad you did the intake....cuz as long as you know how to operate a screwdriver, you can install a cold air intake.
I agree, your Jeep would look nice lowered, but completely understand the winter part.
Looks good though! thumbup

Not much. It was a fresh wash, and I waxed it this past fall with a Meguiar's Gold Class. I don't Zaino or anything special... It's just a clean looking black whip. Thanks for the compliment though, I appreciate them all.

I wax my 96 about once a week or so. I just use some turtle wax car wash, scrub that on, then apply a nice coat of NXT ( http://www.cardomain.com/item/MEGG12718 ) and that is the best stuff i have found, its better than ICE and Zaino in my opnion. I picked mine up at *shiver* wallmart for 15-16 bucks, now i dont shop there but they have good prices on wax. Its a quick in- and out trip, that place scares me.

wow! just a simple wash???? looks really polished. have you buffered your jeep to take away any swearl marks cuz i have those and there really getting to me, so i kinda need some advise...
TheBackRoads

me, well mines swearl city, nothin but them, I have buffed the car, but didnt take any out. um, maybe try claybar?
blackattack182

Since I am not so mechanically inclined ( I can build you a car on paper but give me a wrench and I'm funkadoozled), I wouldn't take a buffer to my car. It's easier to pay a detailer than to buy a buffer, attempt to buff, and risk screwing everything up.
But yes, just a simple wash gave me that nice look. It may be a little lighting thing too; it was getting darker as I was taking pics.

I like to wax by hand, just use a little applicator, put some wax on it, go in small circles on your car, add alittle more wax, and keep going. Its not hard, I had a friend show me. (post 300)

"BLACK" i was also wondering if i need to buy another (converter), because im not buying the whole system from MAGNAFLOW because i found out that buying everything seperat saves me about $110.00.. im a little bummed out that my ss tip wont have the magnaflow engraved on it :.( , o well a tip is a tip..
ALSO.... how much was the muffler by itself ?
blackattack182

I don't really know, I just gave him some cash and said "do it." It would probably run about $110, if I had to guess.

still considering that jet chip ( stage 2 ) ? if you are do you know how much HP well get out of the 3.7L's.
blackattack182
08-20-2006, 11:50 PM
I called JET and he recommended the Stage 2 chip with 91 octane (as if he would recommend anything less expensive than his best part). He said I could probably wind up with 18 HP or so at the wheels, so it would definitely be worth it. It's on eBay for $235.

alex, get it and let me know haha

08-21-2006, 12:15 AM
thats not bad. 18hp at the rear wheels...good, but 91 octane gas.. thats not good.... gas is f*cking crazy these days. thanx BLACK.

Well, I haven't been to the pumps lately (thank God and short commutes), so I don't really know the price, but it can't be more than $2 per tank. Sure, that adds up, but the fun would definitely be worth it.
Long Islanders, anyone want to tell me the price of 91-Octane gas?
scaryanias
08-21-2006, 01:10 AM
that K&N must really be coming in handy! 91 OCTANE is $3.02 a gallen down here, and thats cheap considering the prices up there.. woo good luck. hope you get that chip pritty soon. ohhhh and hows your WK doing? have you been enjoing those extra horses?

I dono but up here in MN regular is an all time low like 2.80's!!!! but holy shit is Prem nice in my 1996, i can get atleast 2 tires spinning around corners on hard acceleration, it just runs sooo much nicer with it.... mmmmm just imagine if it wasnt stock...
blackattack182

Yeah, gas is going to be going down because the summer rush is soon to be over. Look for under $3 prices.
For the interim, I've been Stick-Shiftin' it. I pretty much shift to the next gear at 3500 RPMs. It makes for a more fun driving experience, because the V6 kicks to the highest possible gear for fuel conservation. In addition, don't be afraid to downshift around corners and when passing the slower losers. I kick it down a gear on occasion and it revs up nicely and I can zoom pass others.
scaryanias

i love using the shifter too. it is alot funner, but why is it that when im at a stop light some damm ricer wants to race me even a 300c that one time, the shifter comes in handy in these situations ;)
