I called up Jet Chips today to get the correct part # for the 4.7L WK because their website has a couple errors on it.
Turns out, the part # we need is listed on their site as:
06-06 4.7L Auto Stick Stage 1 90419
They are selling it for $322 shipped. I am trying my best to find a cheaper site to buy from. Nobody seems to have this newer part # on their site yet. I have a two sites calling up Jet to see if they can get it.
Straight from a Jet Chips representative, the Stage 1 module for the 4.7L WK will give a 17hp/14ft-lb gain.
I asked about the gains for the Stage 2 module and strangely lthe numbers are the exact same. The Stage 2 module requires a Cold Air Intake, Free Flow Exhaust, 180° Thermostat, and 91 Octane fuel!

eBay has them for the 3.7 and 4.7 a lot cheaper. I will link you up in just a few.

Maybe for the 3.7, but no they don't have any for the WK 4.7L, part # 90419.
At least last time I searched, a couple hours ago.

Well it might be under another vehicle?
The 3.7 Jet Chip is not under Jeep. It's universal between 3 vehicles.

I've been searching for the part # on eBay. Nothing.
I found it at www.proficientperformance.com (http://www.proficientperformance.com) for $240+shipping.
Actually, the salesperson made some calls and it is in stock, but not on the website.
I'm just waiting for a call back from a salesperson at www.autoanything.com (http://www.autoanything.com)
because they're selling the modules for $231 shipped.

Are you going to get one?
If so, what stage?
I would go with stage 1 but on some websites they also say to get the full potential from the Jet Chip to use higher octane gas. Is that HP to the wheels or crank?
That would go along nicely with my exhaust and filter.

I just ordered one from www.autoanything.com for $231, can't wait to try it out!
(BTW, 231 is also the top speed of the McLaren F1 & the highest recorded wind speed on earth -- Mount Washington in my home state of New Hampshire)
Anyways, they have a 30-day return policy so if I don't notice a difference I won't hesitate to send it back. Also they have a year of price protection, not that I'll see a lower price but still.

I would imagine the dealership would blame anything they could on the Jet chip. I wouldn't leave it in when going in for service.

It's a $10,000 Linux-powered diagnostic tool (starSCAN), not a calculator.

want a cookie?

If you're giving out cookies, yes, I would like one.
The Jeep's computer probably tracks driving habits or fuel regulation or some kind of numbers. If they can, and the techies can tap into it with starSCAN, then they can probably see changes in fuel and overall power curves.

I installed the Jet module. I drove to the end of my driveway (1/4 mile long), then immediately called Jet Tech Support:
"I just installed the Jet Performance module in my 2005 Grand Cherokee"
"Which engine?"
"4.7"
"Okay, how can I help you?"
"Well you guys definetley found way to get better acceleration, but I don't think it's going to help my gas mileage at all"
"Why do you say that?"
"The autostick transmission is stuck in first gear"
"Ooh, that's not normal. We're going to have to send you a new module. Do you have your invoice number?"
Damn. This is :bull: I'm going to play rollerhockey. :horse:

That's rough. Did you notice anything performance-wise in first gear? :)

haha, no I didn't romp on 1st gear going down my driveway :P

I'm trying to return the Jet Chip through Autoanything and despite their Easy Returns and them saying nothing about 'breaking the seal' on the packaging, they are giving me some grief.
Weird though, the Jeep seems a bit more responsive since I installed and removed the Jet Chip. Does that thing flash the Jeep's computer with new info? I thought it would only have an affect while plugged in.
Or maybe its just the cool weather we've been having....

That would be interesting to find out from a tech if they just send an updated performance curve to the computer and then do nothing. If that is the case, then I'll split one with Nick!

If I talk to the Jet guy again I'll ask about it, but you know damn well if that was the case they're sure as hell not gonna admit it.
People would be "renting" Jet Modules or sharing them with others and their sales would plumment.
Actually y'know what, I already did ask the salesman at AutoAnything. I asked if unplugging the module would bring the computer parameters back to stock. They said yes, it would be completely reversed.
Also, if it did flash the computer wouldn't my transmission still be stuck in first?
I swear though it does feel peppier, even today which was a little warmer than it has been.

Usually colder means peppier, since cold air is better for it. So maybe you've got some benefits.

I'm sending the Jet Chip back ASAP, they finally OK'ed the return.

Jet Chip returned, credit issued.
Now I've gotta wait for Hypertech to come out with a programmer for the 4.7L
blackattack182
05-04-2006, 09:50 PM
....which will reverse the order on the gear shift, probably, from P, R, N, D, to N, D, P, R. You should get straight up money back from them. Store credit bites unless you're buying something else on the spot.

05-04-2006, 09:57 PM
Guess I wasn't quite clear. They credited the full amount back to my mastercard.
blackattack182
05-04-2006, 09:59 PM
Ooohhh. Good. But you're still going to buy their programmer?
FlyinLo
05-04-2006, 10:18 PM
Maybe a Hypertech when it comes out. The module i returned was a Jet Chip, different company.
blackattack182
05-04-2006, 11:35 PM
Okay, now I completely understand. You bought a module from JET, returned it and got all your money back on your credit card, and are now waiting for a programmer from Hypertech.
:witstupid: (pointing to me)

You should get another chip and just see if it does anything, because I have looked for them but never knew if it was worth it on my ZJ. Or if anyone has one, what can you expect to get out of it?
