I recently purchased a Magnaflow muffler and I am just awaiting shipment.

Question is..... To reduce cabin noise do I leave the resinator on or off?

I won't be replacing the stock piping, since it already is 2.5" and pretty well bent from factory.

I do want it to be as loud as possible since I only have the 3.7, but if taking the resinator off = louder exhaust but a lot more cabin noise I don't want to do it. Or is the 3.7 so small that even if i take the resinator off it wont matter? thanks

I say this because as you already know, I have a system up for grabs in your For Sale section and it has (2) resonators with the largest universal muffler Magnaflow makes. While the in-cabin noise is greatly reduced (due to the resonators), the growl from outside is awesome! You should have just gotten my system!;) It would've bolted right up to yours and has that nice looking and expensive resonator tip. I understand that alot of people like to try things out for themselves (I'm one of them), whereas others like others to do the work for them. I believe that you follow along the lines of the former and want to come up with your own Franken Exhaust! I would definately leave the resonator on...you can always cut it off later and add a jamm'n tip. Since you are in uncharted territory with the 3.7, just have the shop weld your new muffler in place and fire it up...if it is not loud enough for you, have them cut the resonator off and extend / angle the pipe to fit your tip of choice. Whatever you end up doing, let us know how it turned out.

The setup I have for sale is as quiet as tame of a sound as you are going to get out of the Magnaflow swap...larger muffler, stock resonator, and Magnaflow resonator tip. Your muffler is going to be louder due to its size. If you can't live with the in-cab noise even with the stock resonator, you'll want to pony up an extra $100-$150 for a resonator tip and that should do it.

I would have bought your system but I have the 3.7 and you have the bigger engine so I wasn't sure if they would fit :( I know you are offering a great deal tho. Thanks for your input.

The 3.7L and 4.7L don't have the resonator I believe. I am preparing to order the Magnaflow exhaust for my 4.7L.

When I crawled under the truck, I did not see the resonator at the tailpipe like on the 5.7L HEMI.

oh ok... so i could have just bought his system and not have installed the resonator near the end? If so, WJ_Jeep check out AMW's for sale thread. He is letting it go cheap!

His ad is for the HEMI exhaust... Wish I had the HEMI!

Files taxes lastnight, will have a fat refund for wheels, exhaust, and cold air intake (I hope); the wife wants a vacation :)
