2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Hemi.... ? Ok, this rev limiter, and top speed cut off on this truck sucks! 113 and it locks..... what crap... anyone know if the jet chips removes that or if hypertech has a solution?

I have heard that the jet chip removes it. or at least changes it but im not sure.
The reason for the speed rating was that the factory equipped tires are only rated to 113. Its really a safety issue.

I got going 105 in my WJ yesterday and that was too fast for me.

onehothemi, im not 100% sure cause im not putting the JET untill spring, but I also heard numerous times that it does remove the speed cut.... if it doesnt then it extends it by quite a bit...

100 is pretty fast. I wouldnt mind goin up to 120 though (maybe 130 if it can actually go that fast)

onehothemi, I thought you wanted to keep the 5.7L for practicality and the SRT8 for your adrenaline-induced speed rages?
Check out B&G Chrysler, I think they can remove the speedo limiter, along with rev limiters and shift points with a PCM modification.

I wonder why we never hear anything about that SRT8. Except, of course for: "I have an SRT8"
^Hey, I can say it too!

Me too... Except mine is a replica :)
I had my 04 ltd at 174kmh - which equates to roughly 108mph. The only thing which was holding it back from going any faster was a very strong head on wind....
I've told you all before, I'm not much of a speeder, but on a wide open road in rural Eastern Washington, I had the jeep up to about 130-135 for a couple of seconds. It was fun, but too scary for me :)

ge2, although the speed probably freaked you out, the Jeep handled quite well, no? In the "fast" thread on CSRT8, people said their 150 MPH endeavors were pretty easy-going.

i bet it got up to 130-150 pretty quick too :P:P
It did. It was a ultra long, straight, two lane road. Slightly down hill, and you could literally see for many miles in front of you. I was going 85 or so, and came up on a semi, so I decided to goose it. The thing sucked right down to the road, and eased it's way up to 130 without effort. It sounded great and felt great too. Very stable, and no rattles or whistles that I've heard a few others complain about.

i had the zj up to about 105-110mph when i first got it. I havent done it again since lol. just a little too scary for me....

i went 90 in my jeep and that wasnt bad, woulda been better if my front tires wernt wearing wrong, so the steering wheel kinda vibrates and thats what stopped me... but yea good times good times

I've taken the V6 up to about 92ish over the Robert Moses bridge. It's pretty windy though, so I didn't want to lose control, so I slowed down. Also, stable.

92? I back out of my driveway faster than that...(kidding, of course, and not suggesting that the Jeep should be driven fast anyways, just being a smartass)
blackattack182

It's a porky WK with a featherweight V6... 92 is pretty decent with a strong headwind. Let the smartassing continue.

I drive I-95 a lot and I cruise sometimes at 100mph for an extended period of time and I feel safe and secure. No need to go past 100 for me. Thats 30mph faster than any speed limit sign anywhere near here.
blackattack182

StreetWK, what are your RPMs at when you're cruising at a hundo?

I don't think they would be redlining... More like 4500, I think, but I wanted to confirm with StreetWK.

my first 93 zj 5.2 had a limit on it but i could tell how fast i was going. It would be in the black area on the speedom very close to the trip reset but then I would feel it slow me down . My current jeep I havent gone that fast yet too many curves around here and afraid i might tip it( with the lift and all)

Honestly, I don't think they are even that high... Maybe 4,000 tops. I'll let you know shortly for sure.

I've taken mine to the limiter and tried to defeat it. I pulled off the gas and floored it then it hit fuel cut. It was a sad day in Jeep land. Anyhow, you can just have it flashed to pull that off, I believe. Anyway, I know that the 2000 WJ redlines 3rd at 110 and then goes into overdrive. So, I'm sure it could pull much farther. However, I don't wanna burn up my tranny. So, I'm not gonna do that anymore haha.
Edit: I forgot to mention I drive the V-8 model. I'm sure there is a difference for the inline.

Where did you a) safely find a road to take a car over 200 MPH on and b) why would your dad let his $X00,000 sports car be pounded on by his immature son?
Oh, and what car was this? Any pics?
