Don't buy from there, JET specifically mentioned Summit Racing for purchases.
Bring this thread back to the home page, please.

Regarding your Jet claims vs. the 4.7L - While the horsepower ratings may be similar if you're going by manufacturer claims, your torque still won't be close.
Still got a ways to go before you can keep up with the "mini-v8"

Okay, so I did some math and found my torque to be right around 250 +/- ft lbs, which isn't too close to the 290 ft lbs that the 4.7L V8 puts out. The 250 was figured with 245 as HP, 5132 as RPM, and 5252 as the denominating constant.
As mods come out, the gap will slowly close... Muhhahaha.

what else you got planned?
I really wish the Jet chip I bought worked. Wonder if they've got the bugs worked out of it yet.

I was thinking crazy for the last week, I want a supercharger, I want to drop a HEMI in there, I want the moon. But JET chips are all that's coming along right now.
I want one good mod that's worth a bundle of power. I don't really know what's comparable, but something that adds 20 HP to the wheels and like 40 ft lbs of torque. That would be awesome.

superchager would not be a bad idea... u can get a custom one somewhere for a few grands..... that is if "few" is not that much for you.. :burnzout:

Supercharger would be awesome, but not for $5000. I'm looking in the under $500 range.

They could call it a "poop shooter," as long as it packs some giddyup-n-go.

Or maybe it won't. What about as mods come out for the 4.7L?? We will never let you catch us!

Dude, there is no way by adding a chip, exhaust, and air intake will get you close to the V8 power. I've had a chip in an SUV and they don't do anything but make your shift points higher, which basically results in an abrupt transition between shifts....I can make my car rev higher too by just popping it into gear and shifting manually...for free
I say chips are a waste of money on SUV's

Adding 35 horsepower is not that great a feat. It's as FlyinLo said, the torque is the tough part. But with the V8 putting 245 horsepower out and the V6 doing 210, that's doable, and if I find a dyno for cheap, I'll prove it.

Neutral drops are for idiots. Yay! Let's all rev our engines and drop it into drive. Real smart,
The JET Chip, along with exhaust and intake will significantly improve the power of the 3.7.
Alex, you would love Nitrous. It's the best/most power for the money and you can honestly do it safely. How pimp?! The only 3.7 with nitrous (that we know of).

Who said anything about "neutral drops". I'm speaking of using the shifter to manually shift up and down, thus increasing the timing of the shift for higher RPM ranges...just like the chip does.
Anyway, good luck with those V6's...I'll be the one in the HO waiting for you at the end of the road

Nice one HOJeepster. The exact reason I bought my Jeep was to race

Doesn't this site leave cookies anyways, Street?
HO, you're a dork. Try changing your air-fuel ratio with your "manual" shifting in your "automatic" Jeep.
Why do you bother anymore, anyway? Take your HEMI's ugly sister of an engine and your exhalted Compass rims and join the Speed Freaks in JU, since you obviously are the most well-equipped Jeep driver in the world.

I just think you're kidding yourself on the power gains. I encourage you to dyno your super jeep. Then I will stop insulting your claims of a "4.7L V8 under V6 skin"
Also, I don't claim I have the badest Jeep around, far from it. Everyone knows that WK has the nastiest ride.

zj gots one hella bad ride too, but go offroad and it rides like a lexus. explain that one :wtf:

quick question, where does this "180 degree thermostat" go exactly in the engine compartment?
graffx

Check your owners manual.
jeepkid
12-04-2006, 01:33 PM
on the zj your thermostat.. is on the top in the front half were the radiator hose comes out of the passenger side and runs to the block.. you can swap the 180 in but its not recommended on the 5.2 zj..
the 3.7 v6 will take more time and money to get compareable to the 4.7 then had you just bought the jeep with it to begin with..
and dont mention Ju speed freaks like its a bad thing...
blackattack182

Not at all, I hold it on a higher pedestal than the rest of the JU forums. I mentioned more because its a big pond with lot of big fish, and some clown that thinks he/she has a decent rig will get chewed alive.

do you need stage one to get stage two or is one jus stage two cus its better?
FlyinLo
12-05-2006, 04:10 PM
I wonder how a stage 2 Jet chip would like an exhaust cutout instead of an aftermarket exhaust

No. You can get either one first, but it is recommended to get the full potential of the chip you choose to also have those supporting mods.

so if i was to get cold air intake and magnaflow what chip would i be eligible for?

stage 2. I think you might want a thermostat too (?) Jet's website has the recommendations on it.

i wanted that stage 2 also but freak the premium gas. im straight on regular
blackattack182

The gas difference is about $2 per fillup. It's not really something that's going to break the bank.
FlyinLo
12-06-2006, 12:14 PM
$3.60 per fillup @ 18 gal
With the distance from my work to home it usually works out to get down into the red on the fuel gauge. Haven't run out yet but I ask for it sometimes.
The most I've ever put in is 19.66gal :o

Wow, I've never gotten that far into the "0 MILES REMAINING" meter. You're Kramer.
PS: Hardcore Seinfeld fans will get that allusion.
FlyinLo
12-06-2006, 03:56 PM
Yeah I'm pretty familiar with the "0 miles remaining" message.
I think you've got at least 2 gallons left at that point so you're good for another 30-35 miles.
