Headers installed on my 5.7 L Hemi Engine, using, Mopar header flanges, Kooks Custom Headers Set, Left And Right to 3" flange, Mopar Factory Headers Install Kit, into seperate Dual Exhaust 3" Vortec Hi Flow Catalitic Converters, out to Custom 3" Y Pipe with one Mopar O2 Sensor, Into 3" single pipe into 3" Vortec Hi Flow Muffler, out to 3" pipe, out to another custom 3" Y pipe, out to 4" pipes into Magnaflow open 4" Stainless Chrome Dual Tips. I know that's confusing, but that's exactly what it is piece for piece, and all of the work was done by American Muffler, in New York. Total cost $2,000.00 even, custom fabrication, and installation done in one day by 4 mechanics, in 2 hours. Serious rumble and big whomp, and power gain, as the engine can now breathe freely. Now I know it has an SRT look but it has a Dodge Viper growl! I posted pictures the best I can and a WMV clip to give you an idea of the growl and idle. Looks great, but you need bigger tips to fill in that big ass hole.

4 inch is way big, thats over kill on a jeep.. the tips look wierd cuz they dont fill the whole and they come out on a wierd angle... its pretty cool but definatly over priced...
mine was 500 with 3' inch duals...

Very nicely done! I like the look and the sound. I have the Magnaflow cat back and it sounds real good but............a performance machine should have dual outlets. It's just the way it should be!

Onehothemi, your stuff gets ripped on a lot.
I like the dual exhaust. Looks pretty mean. You should get some black sheet metal or a piece of the black Jeep plastic and fab it around those tips to make the gap smaller. Either way, It's cool.
For any other Long Islanders, Kook's in Bay Shore is top notch. They designed the SRT8 headers, 300 headers, a ton of stuff. They've done Unique cars and a bunch of big jobs. Their shop is quite extensive and they're a good bunch to deal with.

I'm thinking about trying to figure out how to fabricate the piece around there, i might as well get the srt bumper while im at it so its on order as we speak.

Some SRT8 folks have rigged up the rear fog lights on their Jeeps too. I hope you do this also with your WK!

rear fogs, for what?

Has anyone seen a pic of a WK with dual exhaust pushed out further to the outer corners of the rear bumper? I know we have those huge supports underneath, but there's got to be a way to get some pipes past it.
I wouldn't be able to go out the center anyway because of the factory hitch (and the fact that I actually use the hitch quite a bit).
I'm slowly wearing the wife down so I can add an exhaust to the WK.
BTW onehothemi - You're exhaust sounds incredible! :yay: Thanks for posting up the sound-clip.

Just add one and when you get home, tell her "I think the muffler's bad... Do you hear it? All deep and grumbly. Hmm..."
Street WK looked into a side-out exhaust, and it was next to impossible, unless you wanted it to look like hell. There's too many crash zones and suspension pieces to run decent pipes and get a clean look.

$2,000 for an exhaust on a truck?...I hope you saw a huge power gain, cus that's alot to pay for the sound

THE MORE THEY HATE THE MORE I APPRECIATE!!!! Everyone is entitled to their opinion. I think the point when even you say "this looks like crap" then I will give in, but it has a unique sound when ideling.

LOL! I already did that last weekend! She went out with "the girls" for the day, so thought it would be a good time to blow $700 on a new planer for my workshop... Yeah, that was fun to explain...
I have to be very careful with the placement of my stupid moves... Can't do them too often..

Onehothemi, why the price change? The first time I posted, I thought it read $1,000. Not so, or did you edit it?

what kind of exhaust is the 1 that has the two seperated? that looks good, plus i cant have it in the middle cause of my trailer hitch

it comes right off the 2 cats into 3inch into a flowmaster 40 series muffler then 2 2.5 inch out all the way to the back into dual 3inch tips.. i talked to my exhaust guy and 4 inch is completly pointless and a waste of money for our jeeps.. u loose all ur back pressure when its that big wich can even make you loose hp... if u listen to my clip it sounds alot throatier than onehots.... what muffler did he use?
onehothemi

yes price change as i had my headers installed that were custom fabricated from kooks, they used the factory cats tho and im not happy about that

From the sound clips, I know your new exhaust sounds awesome when under load.. How does it sound when MDS kicks in?
onehothemi
10-13-2006, 03:58 PM
MDS!!! HAHAHAH What's that.... i get 9.2 miles to the gallon, it must not work, cuz that's been my milage for the past couple of months, since all the engine upgrades, air intake, and exhaust work. The way I drive, it wouldn't have a chance to engage, as I drive it in manumatic shift mode and hard as a mo fo lol, seriously... I've heard it kick in on the high way, and its a deep dark rumble and switch, like a track car sitting on the line ready to take off. I will soon have side ride, drive by recordings that I will post.

I'd hate to see you mess with the look you were going for, but here's an option to try and fill the hole a bit. I had these ovals powder coated and put on my facotry exhaust system (they are since gone since I swapped the stock system out). I liked the look a whole lot.

ge2, do you still have those tips? i want to buy them from you.
I'm sorry, no. I gave the whole stock system (along with those tips) away. But any exhaust shop can get you some resonated ovals. Then the powder coating cost me about 40$.

what do u have now instead of stock system?
I have the Magnaflow system. I absolutely love it. Not louder, but a different sound from stock. If you haven't heard it, I can find a video clip online, if you'd like to hear it.

yea never cared for magnaflow, but sounds good on the srt8
I'm in the same boat. I've had magnaflows on 2 previous vehicles, only to remove them after less than a month each time. I was sceptical again, but the price was reasonable, and the audio clips I had heard sounded nice-- so I gave it a try. VERY happy this time around.
