I spoke with a person in the R&D department at AIRRAID concerning a cold air intake, and throttle body spacer for the 4.7L V8.
It sounds as if they are working on it now, and should be out in the next few weeks.
If you have ever seen or heard an AIRRAID system, you'll be very happy. They are much superior to the K&N kits, which are a compromise on quality.
Keep an eye out.
Also, I'm still waiting for Borla to produce an exhaust system for the 4.7L. Hopefully soon :)

Very good news about the Airraid. What do they go for? And is the tube chrome or plastic?
I had a Borla exhaust on my 4.3L S-10 ext cab. It had a decent sound to it, but it droned too much on the highway.

I suspect that the tube will be plastic. Plastic stays cooler than metal thus increasing horsepower.
In the K&N kit, they difference between the plastic tube and the metal tube is about 2HP!
I suspect the price will be about $275-300.

Exactly. I hope it's the plastic.

Why does K&N compromise quality?

AIRRAID products have an overall better fit and finish. They are made of better materials, i.e. heavier plastic, heavier sheet metal, better seals, etc...
AIRRAID performs extensive testing for their products before releasing them and having to revise them later like some competitors.
The end result: Professional product, with professional fit and professional results.

For now, I've just got the drop-in K&N filter.
Bought it on Amazon (I think) for like $19 or something ridiculous. May have been a sale.

I have been calling AirAid every 30-60 days since Feb. 2005 to see when they will do something for the 4.7L.
It's starting to p*ss me off, I don't think they are going through with it...
I guess I will have to continue to use the K&N, I love to rub that in their face that they only catered to the HEMI.

airaid sucks, that is a joke to compare airaid to any other cold air intakes or intakes period. seriosuly i would be going with the company that has been around a while and has a ton of products. seriously i think you have to much time on your hands if your emailing a company to find out info on there products

Emailing and getting on with your day, or browsing the web for forty minutes, searching for the product you're looking for... Which takes more time?

exactly but anyways so its airraid better or k&n cuz now im confused
I did tech writeups on 4 different FIPK / CAI (for the f150/expedition) a couple years ago for a truck magazine. The difference in these kits is ABSOLUTELY minimal (yes, including what the tube is made from). Go with which one you think looks the best.

so ge2 does plastic or metal make a difference in intakes? word on the forum is that it can, but you seem to know your stuff, whats the deal?
No-- the difference is not anything noticeable. It can *possibly* result in minute differences under extreme conditions, but under standard driving conditions, no significant differences were noted. These open element kits are all engineered pretty well, and comprable to one another. The growl may sound different from one product to another, but the performace gains will all be very close to one another. Seriously, get the one you think looks the best for your style.
And to be sure that I'm clear, I'm talking comparing open airs with heatshields to one another, and open airs without heat shields to one another, etc.
